Engineering Geology

Mr. Clayton Coles: Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist.  Mr. Coles is the General Manager of Lawrence & Associates and Principal Engineering Geologist, responsible for technical management and oversight of all engineering, geotechnical, environmental, and construction-management projects.

Mr. Coles is a:

  • Certified Professional Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Specialist (No. 826)

Mr. Coles has over 25 years of experience in landfill design, permitting, construction management and operation of new waste management unites, liners, covers, monitoring networks, and landfill-gas monitoring and control systems.

Mr. Coles also manages investigation and remediation of underground-tank sites and other contaminated sites. Mr. Coles has managed or performed project work on virtually every Lawrence & Associates project of this type in the past 17 years.

Mr. Bryan Gartner: Professional Geologist, Certified Engineering Geologist, and Certified Hydrogeologist. Mr. Gartner is Vice-President of Lawrence & Associates and is responsible for environmental site assessments, including property assessments and underground storage tank sites, and landfill permitting.  He has experience with environmental documentation and permitting both existing and new landfills.

Mr. Gartner performs underground-tank and other contaminated-site investigations, designs groundwater monitoring systems, prepares Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, landfill closure plans, groundwater evaluations, and other documents relating to environmental compliance.

Mr. Karl Swanson: Professional Geologist.  Mr. Swanson is responsible for designing and overseeing landfill design, permitting, and construction management, including installation and operational management of new waste management units, liners, covers, monitoring networks, and landfill-gas monitoring and control systems.

Mr. Swanson performs contaminated-site investigations, designs groundwater monitoring systems, prepares landfill closure plans and post-closure plans, groundwater evaluations, and other documents relating to environmental compliance.

Civil Engineering

Mr. David Brown: Professional Engineer.  Mr. Brown is a California Registered Professional Engineer responsible for all civil engineering aspects of all Lawrence & Associates projects.

Mr. Brown is a:

Mr. Brown joined Lawrence & Associates in 2017, after 24 years of unique experience having been a company owner, consultant, design engineer, project engineer, project manager, owner’s representative, land developer, regulatory program trainer, expert witness, and presenter.  His background provides a wide range and depth of knowledge across multiple disciplines that affect industry in California.  Mr. Brown brings focus and support in tackling complex environmental affairs and compliance including civil engineering and environmental management related to industrial infrastructure, planning, stormwater management, hazardous waste management, and air-quality permitting.  He is experienced in troubleshooting, responding to regulatory changes, and implementing cost effective and practical solutions to meet the changing needs of industry and environmental compliance.

Geology & Hydrogeology

Ms. Bonnie Lampley: Professional Geologist, Certified Hydrogeologist, and Chief Financial Officer.   Ms. Lampley is President of Lawrence & Associates and Principal Hydrogeologist, responsible for corporate financial oversight, and management of all ground- and surface-water projects, statistical and water-chemistry applications, and technical review of all reports.

Ms. Lampley is a:

  • Certified Hydrogeologist (H.G. 626)

Ms. Lampley is the head of our groundwater group and is an authority on local and basin-wide hydrologic analyses throughout northern California.  She is responsible for implementing Article 5 reports and statistical analysis of water-quality data. She has prepared Closure Plans, Reports of Disposal Site Information, and Reports of Station Information, and other required documentation for obtaining solid-waste facility permits.

Mr. David Kirk: Professional Geologist.  Mr. Kirk is Vice-President of Lawrence & Associates and is responsible for environmental site evaluations, underground storage tank sites, and managing periodic sampling work for our clients.

Mr. Kirk is a:

Mr. Kirk has experience in over 100 underground storage and hazardous material spill-related sites.  Mr. Kirk is proficient in processing well installation applications and coordination of drilling services for monitoring wells and community drinking water wells.  Mr. Kirk has extensive experience in hard-rock geology and mining mineral assessments.

 

Environmental Site Assessments

Mr. Robert L. (Bob) Ekin: Senior Environmental Assessor.  Mr. Ekin is responsible for Phase I and II ESAs environmental site assessments, including property assessments and underground storage tank sites, and land development permitting.

Mr. Ekin is a:

  • Registered Environmental Property Assessor, REPA 199155

Mr. Ekin joined L&A in 2003.  Mr Ekin performs project management for planned development projects; conducts environmental site assessment activities for commercial, industrial, ranch property, and government lands transactions (Phase I, II, and III); conducts onsite septic system evaluations; performs project management of contaminated soil and groundwater investigation, monitoring, and remedial action projects for sites under regulatory oversight.  Mr. Ekin has experience with NEPA and CEQA environmental documentation and permitting both existing and new facilities.  Mr. Ekin conducts Phase I Initial Study Assessments (ISAs) for State and Federal funded public works projects, including roadway and bridge rehabilitation projects.  Mr. Ekin is also responsible for managing reimbursement requests for the State of California’s revolving underground storage tank cleanup fund.

Drilling Services

Mr. Dan Jensen is the manager of drilling services.  Mr. Jensen is a Principal, responsible for estimating and scheduling drilling, well installation, treatment-system installation, groundwater sampling, and other technical services.

L&A is licensed well driller in California, C57-539447, and a licensed monitoring well constructor in Oregon, No. 10405.

CAD Services

Mr. David Zaitz is the head of our computer-aided drafting (CAD) and surveying department. Mr. Zaitz has over 25 years of experience in surveying, and excels in AutoCAD, including DCA and Earthworks modules.
